It is upsetting, shocking, and compelling, but it brings forth some facts and asks some questions that need to be considered.

Matthew 3:12 “His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
When John the Baptist came on the scene, the multitudes went out to see this man who preached with a holy urgency. He exhorted the masses to repent, for the Kingdom of God was at hand. He spoke of Jesus, who would come and baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire. He warned those who thought themselves right with God based upon their family heritage and religious position. He told them to repent.
He assured the masses that Jesus would “thoroughly clean out His threshing floor”. In those days, when wheat was harvested, it would be trampled by an ox so that the wheat kernel would be separated from the chaff. The mixture was then tossed into the air, and the wind would blow away the chaff, and the heavier wheat kernel would fall to the ground. In this way, the farmer would save that which was useful, and discard that which was useless.
