As one person put it, God didn't save us to keep us the "way we are." He wants to fill us with His Spirit so that there is no room for "the way we are", not only that our lives are fruitful and joyous, but that other lives (our kids', our parents', the Body of Christ, unbelievers) are impacted and blessed.

Unfortunately, no matter how eternally saved we are, while we are here on earth, our default settings will always be our default settings... that is, without the power of God who can and desires to change us.

How I need that!! :)

I know for me being saved was a turning point in my life. Yet I am definately "being saved" daily. Every battle ends with complete surrender and I am humbly saved again and again. I need the Lord to save me from each unclean thought, all my "default settings", anxiety, etc. The Lord continues to work in me and bekon me, he's my Hero!! Thanks for sharing:)

Praying Heart,

You are not only close, but you are in the bull's eye.

Our salvation is finished from God's perspective, but from our vantage point, both finished and progressive.

Salvation is both justification and sanctification.
Pronounced not guilty, and then learning to live that way.
Forgiven of our sins, and learning to not allow them to rule over us.

It will all end in glorification.

Good insights...I agree with what you said.
Thanks for sharing that.

hi Pastor Bill;
These are very deep thoughts and concepts . . . it's hard to grasp the fullness of these Scriptures of what God's done by giving us Salvation in Christ . . . and that Salvation is an onging event . . .

it's almost like saying that Salvation is for the 'here and now' and
at the same time for the 'then and there' . . .

it's seems as though since God lives in an eternal prospective (He sees all things at once, time for Him is not as it is for us), and because there are no time limits with God and we live with the boundaries of time. . . we see things in sequences or processes, we take one day at a time (thus working out our Salvation with fear and trembling) -

though with God, He already sees the finished work of the Cross in each Believer - He sees the beginning and the end all at once -
. . . so in His eyes we are already 'Saved' - but we won't really know if we're saved unless we continue to walk with Jesus and one day see Him face to face . . .

. . . am i close . . . or did i just make things more confusing?

Susan, Al...
Thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts.

Praying Heart,
There are two aspects of our salvation. That which happened the moments we accepted Jesus, and that which continues to happen our entire life.

Salvation doesn't stop with justification. Salvation also includes sanctification, and eventually, glorification.

The word "saved" means much more than just being forgiven. It includes all the blessings of knowing and walking with Jesus, which includes Him making us "better", and healing our minds and hearts.

It may seem contradictory, but it's not. Salvation is multi-faceted.

Blessings...

I love that concept - "Default setting." How easy it is to slide back into it, even after we see it.
