John 20:24-28 Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”
And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!” Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”
Scars are generally seen as ugly things. Perhaps a “well placed” scar might add character to someone’s appearance, but usually, they do not make a person more attractive. Read more »

This video was put together by Pastor Sam Scotti, from Genesis in Upland, CA. Sam recently went with us to South Baja, and he put this together for his church.
A couple of corrections need to be stated. Our upcoming Pastor’s Conference is October 7-9, but for those who will travel to Vizcaino to serve, the trip will be from Oct. 6-10, or thereabouts.
Also, I made reference to a band that I sang in that went to England in 1988. That band was the Mirrors, not Undercover. (Not all that important, but, you know…)

Sam, thanks for putting this together, that we might be able to share with a few more people about the missions opportunities in South Baja.
Blessings all…

Matthew 5:1, 2 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying…
We only know what Jesus went on to say because “His disciples came to Him…”, and they eventually wrote it down for us.
The multitudes did come to Him (7:28), but His disciples came to Him with the expressed purpose of learning. Read more »

The Church Universal And The Church Local
In the prison letters (Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians), Paul deals with the church collectively as the body of Christ, the bride, and the temple. In the pastoral epistles (such as Timothy and Titus), he deals with the church serving Christ as a local body. Both emphases are necessary for a balanced ministry.
Certainly God sees the whole body with Christ as the Head; but as far as the ministry is concerned, He works through the local assemblies in different places. The “church universal” (body of Christ) into which the believer is baptized by the Spirit is a valid concept; but the “universal church” concept is not a substitute for the action of the local church.
The “universal church” never sent out a missionary, built a hospital, observed the Lord’s Supper, or helped a needy family. It is the local church that receives the greater emphasis in the NT, but the ministry of the local church will be stronger if the members realize their position in the body of Christ.

“And above all things, have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins.”
Cover- to hide, veil, hinder the knowledge of a thing.
We have all had people sin against us. Often times, we have insider information on them and their sins. Information that we could use to make them look bad, and validate our position and character. If such information was leaked, people would know that we are not as guilty as the other party makes us out to be. The public would know that we indeed have been fair and loving. In order to let the public know that we have been fair and loving, the truth of someone else’s sin would have to be exposed, so as to let the general public know the whole story.
Instead, it is information that we willingly keep hidden, so as to not unnecessarily expose another person’s sins. The result can be that we are misjudged and misunderstood. We are criticized for our reactions to that person.
At least, this is how it can seem to be. God knows the whole story, and sees our blind spots. Read more »

Hi folks,
Life is a bit busy (crazy) right now. I never thought that I would be doing a “here’s what I did today” kind of blog, but here is what I did last week, and am doing this week.
Last week was Baja South. After flying from Sacramento to San Diego, we traveled 1600 miles +- by car in Mexico. We visited 10 cities, and met with 12 senior pastors and an orphanage director. We discovered the orphanage between stops. That was a pleasant surprise. (God thing)
A link to a photo journal of our trip is available by clicking on: http://s279.photobucket.com/albums/kk153/GenesisCommunity/Baja%20Mexico/
Thanks to Pastor Sam Scotti for the photos. Sam is the pastor of a new church in Upland, called Genesis.
This week I will be at the Calvary Chapel Senior Pastors Conference in Murietta, CA. I’ll be leaving Monday a.m. and be back Thursday afternoon, in time for our Thursday evening service.
May the Lord bless everyone who stops by here. I look forward to NOT be traveling by the end of next week. It’s all good, but there is no place like home. (click ruby slippers here)
Hopefully, I’ll have some neat stuff to share with you all when I get back, until then…bendiciones en cristo.
