Cornerstone Ministries will be joining many other churches for a week of prayer and fasting. 
The dates are November 3-7. We will gather each evening and join other churches via a webcast, as different pastors throughout our region lead us in guided prayer.
If you have never fasted, I encourage you to pray about it and consider it. It is a Biblical principle that is not often practiced, but that can bring great benefits.
I have attached a link which offers information on fasting. If you have any questions or concerns about the physical aspects of fasting, I recommend that you speak to your health care provider.

How Some View The Issue

“Presumption” is defined as follows:
“An assumption, often not fully established, that is taken for granted in some piece of reasoning; unwarrantable, unbecoming, or impertinent boldness.” (according to Dictionary.com)
Presumption leads to making conclusions that may or may not be true. I was reminded of that first hand this last Saturday.

A Funny Image, That's All
Life in Jesus continues to be amazing to me. I spoke at a political rally today. It’s not my normal gig.
The rally was billed as a Prayer Rally for those in favor of Propositions 4 & 8.
Prop 4 deals with the issue of teenage girls being able to have an abortion without parental consent. Prop 8 is the effort to define traditional marriage as being between one man and one woman.
I am really glad that I spoke at this rally. I would have been glad to just be there, but the added responsibility of being one of the speakers put an extra twist on things.
I’ll write briefly here on my experience, since it is Saturday night, and I need to be studying for Sunday morning. The location was the lawn of a local High School, on the corner of the busiest intersection in Napa. About 100+- protesters were already there when I arrived, marching in a circle around the area where the rally was being held. They were loud, a few were disrespectful, and they were carrying signs and balloons. When I saw the balloons, I asked myself, “How bad can this get? They’re not carrying weapons, only signs and balloons. This isn’t Tienanmen Square, and things will be fine.” I was right. There was nothing more than loud voices, honking horns, chanting, and one megaphone.
I’ll post some other aspects of my experience tomorrow. Below is a copy of what I sought to communicate to the folks that were there. I didn’t exactly stick to my notes, as I was distracted by one protester, but I got to share the important points. By the way, the main group of protesters left before I spoke. I would have preferred them to be there, but that’s O.K. Maybe I am ADD or something, and it’s better that they were gone…I dunno…

When the Israelites crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land, God dried up the Jordan for them, and they crossed over on dry land.
God then told them to set up Memorial Stones in Gilgal, so that when their children asked about those stones, they would tell their story of God’s faithfulness to them.

The Story…
I was on staff at Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa from 1989-1991. During that time, I was singing in a band called The Mirrors. The Iron Curtain fell, and Eastern Europe opened up to the West. We traveled with Brian Broderson (then pastor of CC Vista, CA) to Yugoslavia and Hungary, and sang and shared about Jesus. Lots of young people got saved, and churches were birthed. Read more »

Maybe “they” do this to you…cyber flattery…hookless hooks that pull you in…and keep you controlled…
Hmmm…I did hear a great sermon on spiritual warfare tonight…
I like to peruse WordPress’ “growing blogs” page from time to time, to see what people are writing about.
They listed “Growing Blogs”, but the date was August 1, 2008.

I have enjoyed a lot of time in Mexico this year.
This will be my 6th week for 2008. This should wrap it up for the year, but you never know when a serious authentic taco urge might overwhelm me. 
We leave Sunday for our 5th Annual Leadership Conference in Vizcaino, Baja Sur (South), Mexico. Mexican pastors and leaders from all denominations gather together to be blessed (hopefully) as we share worship and the Word of God. Some of the brothers travel as far as 8 hours to be able to join us, as there are not many such conferences offered in South Baja. This year, we will be teaching verse by verse through Philippians.
